    Operating the 1 gallon
    capacity Fertilizer Caddy fertilizer injector
If using a premixed liquid, usually you can pour it in full strength. To save even more money, we highly recommend using a dry, totally water-soluble granular fertilizer such as Scotts Miracle-Gro® or Peters Professional®, Bandini Pro Choice®, or Grow More®. Simply premix the dry fertilizer with water at a ratio of 1 to 1¼ pound of dry formula (i.e. one small bag of Miracle-Gro® general purpose plant food, 15-15-15 or 20-20-20) to 1 gallon of water. Easy, mix (1) bag of Miracle-Gro® to (1) gallon of water
As you operate your irrigation system, a small amount of water is diverted from the mainline into the top of the additive tank.
The solution of fertilizer is drawn from the bottom of the tank. The incoming water and the additive in the tank do NOT blend.
After all the additive has been dispensed, the tank will be full of water.
When you want to refill the unit with additive, simply drain the tank, and refill the unit.
It will take approximately 200 gallons of water passing through the injector, and your irrigation system, to dispense all of the additive in the tank. If you have a flow rate of 1 gallon per minute (GPM), simply divide 200 by the flow rate of 1 GPM. You now know it will take approximately 200 minutes, or a little under 3
    ½
hours, to not only water your trees, shrubs and lawn, but also fertilize them as well.
To initially fill the Fertilizer Caddy Fertilizer Injector and Foliage Feeder, remove the top fill cap. Insert the fill funnel into the opening and pour in liquid solution. Fill the tank
    completely
    .
Replace the top cap, and the Fertilizer Caddy fertilizer injector is ready for operation. Turn on the irrigation system at the hose bib.
When the time comes to refill the Fertilizer Caddy injector, turn off the water supply at the hose bib. Remove both the bottom drain cap and the top fill cap. Allow all of the water to drain from the unit and replace the bottom drain cap. Place the fill funnel in the top opening and recharge the Fertilizer Caddy injector. Replace the top fill cap and turn on the irrigation system. Once you have completed watering, it is not necessary to drain the unit. If there is fertilizer or additive still in the tank, it will be dispensed the next time you operate your irrigation system.
