The motor drive unit, equipped with two electronically controlled speeds, makes the ALPA Rotocamera 60/70
rotate around its central axis in a horizontal plane. The film is transported behind a slot and pressed onto a cylinder whose diameter is twice the focal lenght of the lens.
The camera projects an image on to its focal plane. The image thus moving at a speed determinated by the speed of rotation of the camera and the optical magnification.
The film is traversed across the back of the camera in reversed direction as the image. No relative movement occurs for those points which are at any instant on the optical axis.
Therefore the field of view is restricted by means of a narrow slot placed in front of the focal plane. The ALPA Rotocamera scans the object.
The principle allows to take pictures of angles up to and more than 360° in one continuous exposure that is practically free of distorsion.
The film magazine of the ALPA Rotocamera accepts rollfilm 120/220 as well as 70 mm perforated film in cartridges (4.5 m)
Film lengths are identical for 60 mm and 70 mm films rotation angle 90° 118.75 mm - 180° 237.50 mm - 220° 356.25 mm - 360° 475.00 mm
