Description
Information on Pylon Paperweights can be found on page 245 of "The Knoph Collector's Guide to American Antiques" "Glass Volume II" by Jane Shadel Spillman.Very rare and hard-to-find circa 1850-1870 hand cut pylon paperweight probably made in France or Bohemia or possibly made in New England. The base is six sided. It is not painted like some examples.
Period glass fluoresces under the black light (see picture #8).
It is about 6 3/4" tall x 3 1/2" wide at the base.
It is in excellent condition. There is no damage. I've looked it over closely. There are no chips or cracks. There is some light surface wear/scratches/blemishes that will likely polish out if attempted. The base has wear commensurate with age. The glass is crystal clear, not cloudy or sick. This piece displays exceptionally well.
My pictures don't always project the ideal image. I have serious problems with glare and lighting. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions, especially photo related ones.
Regarding combined shipping. In most cases, several pieces can be shipped in a single box. When this occurs, I will credit the purchaser's PayPal account any shipping difference. In-other-words, I charge exact shipping for same time multiple purchases. I cannot issue these credits until I've purchased the postage so it may take a day or two. I do this often. I have never had a discrepancy complaint. My customers are in very good hands.
Shipping via USPS Priority Mail fully insured.
