The wild turkey is the state game bird of Alabama, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Massachusetts. There are two species of the wild turkey, the American wild turkey and the Ocellated wild turkey. The American wild turkey, which is the more common of the two is comprised of five subspecies, each displaying different physical and behavioral characteristics that define them. The wild Turkey sub species are the Eastern wild turkey, the Florida (Osceola) wild turkey, the Rio Grande wild turkey, the Merriam’s wild turkey, the Ocellated turkey, and the Gould’s wild turkey. The Ocellated turkey is native to Central America. Bird watchers, bird hunters, and bird lovers alike can display their interest in this bird with a beautiful decorative piece.
