Original French poster (16x22) from the first release in France, distributed by Les Films. The film stars Wilhemenia Fernandez, Frederic Andrei, and Richard Bohringer. It's a somewhat complicated, nuanced movie directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix which has become over the decades a true cult classic. The film follows the troubles of a young postman who loves classical music and is obsessed with an American opera singer, Cynthia Hawkins. Hawkins' career is enhanced somewhat by the fact that she has never been recorded. So the young postman takes a small Nagra tape recorder to a recital, where he makes a bootleg recording. This is when the film takes a distinct noirish turn involving blackmail, gangsters, the police, and friends-to-the-rescue. The movie was initially not a success, but its audience grew over a period of months and extended to the United States where the grosses topped 2.5 million dollars. This small poster is in very fine condition, but like most posters of this size, it has been folded once, horizontally.
