Senufo mens associations create masks that incorporate aggressive features of different animals to symbolize power or to recall mythical events. Both the Kponiugu and Kunugbaha use them in anti-witchcraft ceremonies.This is an authentic vintage mask. You can see signs of use and the scent of the patina and smoke is evident. Purchased by my parents in Africa from the tribal village.
