    Description

    NEW YORK CITY
    BOARD OF EDUCATION SCHOOL SYSTEM
THESE TAGS WERE ATTACHED TO CHAINS THAT WHEN PULLED WOULD OPEN UP OR CLOSE A SHUT ALLOWING HEAT TO ENTER THE HEATING SYSTEM INTO THE CLASSROOMS. NOT MANY OF THESE STILL AROUND SINCE COAL IS NO LONGER USED AND OIL IS.
    SIGN MEASURES 2 3/4" X 3/4"
    MADE OUT OF METAL
THESE TAGS DATE BACK TO THE 1900's WHEN THE SCHOOL WAS FIRST BUILT AND THEY HEATED WITH COAL. THEY WAS SHELVED AND FORGOTTEN ABOUT UNTIL IT CAME TIME TO CLEAR OUT A STORAGE ROOM.
AGAIN "ONE MAN'S JUNK IS ANOTHER MAN'S TREASURE"
