The Pronghorn Antelope is also known as the prong buck and prairie antelope. The closest living relative of the pronghorn antelope are giraffes. They are only called “antelope” because of parallel evolution with old world antelopes. For a while, the population of pronghorn antelopes was reduced to only 13,000. But with hunting restrictions and conservation the population has increased to the point where there are more pronghorn antelopes in Wyoming than people.
