    Private Savings Stamp
Issued by the Hartford Insurance Company (Now Hartford Financial Services Group) in 1958, this stamp is inscribed "Hartford Stag Bonus Stamp / 5 Prize Points". The image on the stamp is the stag used as The Hartford's logo for many years. The stag is from a painting known as "The Monarch of the Glen".
    From Wikipedia:
The Monarch of the Glen is an oil-on-canvas painting of a red deer stag completed in 1851 by the English painter Sir Edwin Landseer. It was commissioned as part of a series of three panels to hang in the Palace of Westminster in London. As one of the most popular paintings throughout the 19th century, it sold widely in reproductions in steel engraving, and was finally bought by companies to use in advertising. The painting had become something of a cliché by the mid-20th century, as "the ultimate biscuit tin image of Scotland: a bulky stag set against the violet hills and watery skies of an isolated wilderness", according to the Sunday Herald.
The stag has twelve points on his antlers, which in deer terminology makes him a "royal stag" but not a "monarch stag", for which sixteen points are needed.
In 2017 the National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh launched a successful campaign to buy the painting for £4 million, finally achieving the acquisition. The painting is now part of the collection, and is on display at the Scottish National Gallery in Room 12.
The purpose of the stamp is unclear - it may have been part of a promotional program by the company to award gifts to policyholders or employees. The stamps are rouletted, printed in panes of 50, with an inscription in the lower margin that indicates they were printed in 1958. This is an imprint block of 6, from the lower left corner of a pane. The block is F/VF, OG, NH.
    Approximate Image Size: 16½ x 17 mm.

After 35+ years I decided to retire from being an active Cinderella Stamp dealer. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such).
Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs.
A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum:
Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described.
    A Note about "Stock Images":
Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words:
    "STOCK IMAGE"
at the end of the description.
